How to Make the Most out of Your Virtual Tutoring Session

On the PEERS edu app, you are charged based on the time that you spend on a call with your private tutor. You are ultimately able to control the time that you spend on calls, and can hang up at any moment if you feel as though you are not learning from the tutor. In order to make sure that you make the most out of your sessions and don’t spend lots of time and money on a call, here are some tips!

Have a list of questions to ask your tutor:

Showing up to your session prepared is important because it allows you to fill in the gaps in your learning. By preparing a list of questions, you will know exactly what to talk with your tutor about, and your tutor will know exactly how to help you. Rather than going over an entire topic that you may already understand part of, your tutor can delve into the specific problem areas to best help you.

Grab some scratch paper and a pencil before starting your call:

Avoid wasting time trying to find supplies so that you and your tutor can dive right into learning! Starting your session prepared and ready to learn will maximize your educational time with your tutor and get the most for your money.

Set a plan for the call through the messaging feature:

Establishing a learning plan prior to your meeting will help to guide the call and help your tutor to better help you. This will avoid any awkward silences or lags in your conversation, and help to set a goal for the meeting. This will not only increase productivity, but also personalize your learning plan.

Let the tutor know what you’re learning beforehand:

This will allow them to revise notes and concepts so that they are the most knowledgeable that they can be in order to help you. Many schools and areas of the world have different ways of teaching subjects, this is especially seen in the way that some math concepts are taught around the world. So if your tutor learned the subject in a different way than you are learning it, this heads up will give them the time to review the way that you are learning so that they can be experts by the time you video call.

Communicate:

If you have any questions or concerns make sure to vocalize them, your tutor is here to help you succeed on your educational journey!

If you follow these tips, and show up to your session prepared and motivated, I’m sure that you will be getting the most out of your PEERS edu experience. Which of these tips is your favorite? Best of luck and happy learning!
